Baseball Recap: Lyons Victorious

Lyons was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Front Range Christian Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since April 30, 2024.

Jake LaCrosse made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over 6.2 innings pitched. LaCrosse was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zack LaCrosse, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Lyons' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Conner, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Lyons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Front Range Christian only posted an OBP of .219.

Lyons' win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Front Range Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Lyons will be playing at home against The Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Front Range Christian, they will face off against St. Mary's at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
