Soccer Game Preview: Social Circle vs. Walnut Grove

The Social Circle Redskins are taking a road trip to challenge the Walnut Grove Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Social Circle is headed into Thursday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They came up short against Jackson County on Tuesday, falling 6-0.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Walnut Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of North Oconee by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Walnut Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 85th, while North Oconee are ranked 22nd).

Social Circle's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Walnut Grove, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-6.

Social Circle took their victory against Walnut Grove in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redskins since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
