Baseball Game Preview: Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars vs. Bullard-Havens Tigers

The Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars will square off against the Bullard-Havens Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kolbe-Cathedral knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Bullard-Havens likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Kolbe-Cathedral made easy work of Weaver and carried off a 20-5 victory. Fans of the Cougars have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Ben Marshall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Marshall was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Joey Mingolello was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Mingolello is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Colon, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Kolbe-Cathedral kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Bullard-Havens suffered their closest loss since April 15, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy by a score of 10-8.

Bullard-Havens' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
