The Robinson Rockets are taking a road trip to face off against the La Vega Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Robinson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully La Vega likes a good challenge.
Robinson will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Connally, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rockets strolled past the Cadets with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 41-27. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rockets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Cadets are ranked 361st).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Robinson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evan Moreno, who rushed for 285 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Moreno's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Brice McCurdy, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD on only eight carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Robinson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 352 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Robinson's defense and their eight sacks. Leading the way was Derrick Medlock with three. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven.
Meanwhile, La Vega got the win against China Spring on Friday by a conclusive 38-17. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Robinson better keep an eye on Tristen Tyler. He was instrumental in La Vega's win, rushing for 62 yards and three touchdowns. Jabarie Thornton did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 91 receiving yards.
Robinson's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.8 points over those games. As for La Vega, their record now sits at 5-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game as Robinson and La Vega have no problem gaining yardage. The Rockets have been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 461.6 total yards per game. However, it's not like La Vega struggles in that department as they've been averaging 360.9 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Robinson came up short against La Vega in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 35-22. Thankfully for the Rockets, Bryson Roland (who rushed for 246 yards and four scores while picking up 11.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
