Softball Game Preview: Miami East Vikings vs. Liberty Union Lions

The Miami East Vikings will challenge the Liberty Union Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Miami East comes in on 14 and Liberty Union on 20.

Miami East is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Williamsburg get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 18 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jacqueline Kadel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Kadel was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jorgia Roeth was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaila Thurman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Miami East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williamsburg only posted a batting average of .000.

Meanwhile, Liberty Union beat Centerburg 7-4 on Friday.

Miami East's win bumped their record up to 25-3. As for Liberty Union, their victory bumped their record up to 26-1.

Miami East couldn't quite finish off Liberty Union in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
