Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Saint Mary walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Swett Warriors 3-1. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won four contests in a row.

Lucas Calavita looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He is becoming a predictor of Saint Mary's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 8-16 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Saint Mary's saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fletcher Oliver, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Reid Rakowski, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Saint Mary's hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Saint Mary's victory bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Swett, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7-2.
