Baseball Game Preview: Pickerington Central Tigers vs. Lancaster Golden Gales

The Pickerington Central Tigers will challenge the Lancaster Golden Gales at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pickerington Central 3.1, Lancaster 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Pickerington Central is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Canal Winchester on Wednesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians.

Cael Kogge was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Pickerington Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dillon Powers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lancaster). They never let Groveport-Madison get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Wednesday. The Golden Gales might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

The victory (which was Lancaster's third in a row) raised their record to 12-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Pickerington Central, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-6.
