Olympia won the last time they faced Auburn and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans breezed past the Trojans to the tune of 60-28. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Trojans are ranked 411th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Olympia was led to victory by Brendon Hardimon and Jimmy Lollar. Hardimon rushed for 144 yards and two scores, while Lollar rushed for 137 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. Hardimon is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 5-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Kaden Collins was another key rusher, rushing for 47 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Olympia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 341 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 256 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Auburn lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Coy Grossner, who picked up 111 receiving yards and three scores. Auburn also got a significant boost from Chance Crissey, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 151 yards.

Olympia's record now sits at 6-3. As for Auburn, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, Olympia will take on Greenville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Comets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. Auburn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
