Baseball Recap: Chouteau-Mazie's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Chouteau-Mazie had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Summit Christian Academy Eagles 7-5. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lucas Grossman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chouteau-Mazie is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-8 otherwise. Grossman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other pitching news, Seth Meyers looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits.

Grossman wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Hill, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Blane Battles also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Chouteau-Mazie picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Summit Christian Academy, they moved to 8-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Chouteau-Mazie will have a chance to go back-to-back against Summit Christian Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
