Basketball Recap: Mescalero Apache Chiefs vs. Lordsburg Mavericks
The Mescalero Apache Chiefs came into Saturday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They managed a 56-52 win over Lordsburg on Saturday. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Mescalero Apache considering their 21-point performance the contest before.
Leading Mescalero Apache to victory were Laurdis Sundayman and Kaylionna Rocha. Sundayman scored 13 points along with three steals, while Rocha scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Paisley Pike was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Mescalero Apache's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9. As for Lordsburg, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-10.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Tularosa the next time they take the court. Mescalero Apache will head out to face the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Mavericks will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
