Softball Recap: Hoopa Valley Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Hoopa Valley and St. Bernard pushed the score to 12-10 the last time they played St. Bernard's, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Crusaders a 4-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Crusaders back in April, they had to take a 12-10 loss.

The result came thanks to Monteya Colegrove's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Angela Hern, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Tylie McKinnon, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Hoopa Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Bernard's only posted a batting average of .111.

Hoopa Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for St. Bernard's, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.
