Basketball Recap: Isaiah Holley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rio Vista over Golden Sierra

Rio Vista lost against Golden Sierra back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rio Vista Rams fell just short of the Golden Sierra Grizzlies by a score of 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since December 5, 2024.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Holley, who went 7 of 16 en route to 20 points and three steals. The match was Holley's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Luke Fortes, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Golden Sierra was led to victory by Ethan Caruthers and Bradley Dodson. Caruthers dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Dodson scored 17 points along with five boards and three steals. Caruthers has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Chris Goski was another key player, putting up four points and five boards.

Rio Vista's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Golden Sierra, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-10.

Rio Vista has already played their next contest (against Mesa Verde), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Golden Sierra will take on Woodland Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Woodland Christian is on a four-game streak of home wins, Golden Sierra a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
