Basketball Recap: Forest Comes Up Short

Forest and Tocoi Creek squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Forest had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 62-47 to the Tocoi Creek Toros.

Despite the loss, Forest still got an impressive performance from Isaac Timmons, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Timmons has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tico Smith, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Forest was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tocoi Creek only racked up three assists.

Tocoi Creek was led to victory by King Mcfadden and Daniel Figueroa. Mcfadden dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Figueroa went 5 of 11 to rack up 20 points. That's the most boards Mcfadden has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tyson Gilbert, who put up nine points and six blocks.

Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Tocoi Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Forest will take on Crestview at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Forest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.4 points per game this season. As for Tocoi Creek, they will face off against Fletcher at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tocoi Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Fletcher likes a good challenge.
