Baseball Recap: Schuyler County Find Success

Schuyler County hadn't done well against Northeast recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rams came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 10-6. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered a 12-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Elliot Sevits made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gage Brownell, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Schuyler County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 9-10 otherwise. Caden Veatch was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Schuyler County and bumps their season record up to 13-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Northeast, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Schuyler County will head out to face off against Princeton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Northeast, they will venture away from home to challenge Westran at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
