Soccer Game Preview: South Central vs. New Bern

South Central hasn't had much luck against New Bern recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Bears at 6:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

South Central fought the good fight in their overtime contest against D.H. Conley on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, South Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 496th, while D.H. Conley are ranked 178th).

The home team had won the previous three meetings between New Bern and White Oak, and White Oak kept the tradition alive. The Bears fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The loss was New Bern's first of the season.

South Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11-2. As for New Bern, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 13-1.

South Central suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to New Bern in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
