Football Recap: Christian Home Educators Fellowship Falls to Northside Lions Sports Association in First Game of Season

Christian Home Educators Fellowship unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Northside Lions Sports Association Lions on Friday, falling 35-12. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Patriots came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 264th in Louisiana, while the Lions are ranked 815th in Texas).

Despite the loss, Christian Home Educators Fellowship still got an impressive performance from Keimon Hardieway, who rushed for 134 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, and also picked up 79 receiving yards and one score. Hardieway's longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Deklen Kearney had an outrageously good game for Northside Lions Sports Association as he rushed for 175 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Those 175 rushing yards gave Kearney a new career-high. Michael Edwards was in the mix as well, providing Northside Lions Sports Association with two TDs.

Coming up, Christian Home Educators Fellowship will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Deweyville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northside Lions Sports Association, they will welcome DasCHE at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Lions their first taste of in-conference action this season.
