Softball Recap: North Olmsted's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

North Olmsted had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Normandy Invaders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-6 on April 4th.

Elena Scott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jocelyn Suckart, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Layla Salameh was another key player, earning three runs.

North Olmsted pushed their record up to 5-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Normandy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Coming up, North Olmsted will venture away from home to square off against Steele at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Comets will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Normandy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Strongsville at 5:00 p.m.
