Basketball Game Preview: Orangewood Christian Rams vs. Orlando Science Orcas

The Orangewood Christian Rams will challenge the Orlando Science Orcas at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Orangewood Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Orlando Science likes a good challenge.

Orangewood Christian took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took down Crooms Academy 64-46. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Orangewood Christian can attribute much of their success to Gavin Lawhorn, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points along with seven steals and five assists, and Will Vargas, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Lawhorn now owns an excellent 41.4% three-point shooting accuracy. Kenyon Darbeau was another key player, putting up eight points and four blocks.

Orangewood Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Orlando Science was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by Crooms Academy 65-28.

Orlando Science's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Orangewood Christian, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Orangewood Christian against Orlando Science in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 56-21 victory. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Orcas turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
