Softball Game Preview: Athens Hornets vs. Kemp Yellowjackets

It'll be a Battle of the Bugs Athens Hornets face off against Kemp Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Athens is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Van on Friday. They came up short against the Vandals, falling 15-0. The loss continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Vandals: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Kemp was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 9-3 to Lindale.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Kemp, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11-1.

Everything went Athens' way against Kemp when the teams last played back in March, as Athens made off with a 20-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Athens since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
