Basketball Recap: Holden Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Warsaw

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Holden on Thursday. They strolled past the Warsaw Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 51-34. The win was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 530th, while the Wildcats are ranked 260th).

When it comes to explaining why Warsaw lost, don't look at Shane Poyser. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 9 to rack up 12 points and six boards. Noah Siebert was another key player, putting up five points and eight rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Holden and bumps their season record up to 4-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points over those games. As for Warsaw, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Holden and Richmond will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Warsaw, they will head out on the road to face off against Chilhowee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
