Volleyball Recap: Verdugo Hills Starts Season with Win on the Road + How To Watch

Verdugo Hills had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Canoga Park Hunters. That's more bragging rights for the Dons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Verdugo Hills was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 16-25, 25-11, 25-17.

Leading Verdugo Hills to victory were Lauren Brink and Lucy Evans. Brink had 11 digs and ten aces, while Evans had ten digs and two aces. Those ten aces gave Brink a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Verdugo Hills was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 25 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Canoga Park is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Verdugo Hills will head out on the road to face off against Reseda at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Canoga Park, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Arleta at 3:30 p.m.
