Baseball Recap: Marionville Comets vs. Pleasant Hope Pirates
Marionville had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pleasant Hope Pirates on Tuesday. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Garrisen Smith was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Will Crumpley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
The win got Pleasant Hope back to even at 1-1.
Looking ahead, Marionville will head out on the road to challenge Billings at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pleasant Hope, they will host Fordland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
