Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rio Hondo Prep). They breezed past the Marquez Gladiators to the tune of 49-20 on Friday. Given the Kares' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Gladiators are ranked 649th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rio Hondo Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yanick Diaz, who threw for 147 yards and three TDs. Those 147 passing yards gave Diaz a new career-high. Deven Gomez helped Diaz out on the ground, rushing for 55 yards and one score on only five carries.
