Preview: Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears vs. Silsbee Tigers

Little Cypress-Mauriceville is 1-9 against Silsbee since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Silsbee Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Little Cypress-Mauriceville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 797th, while Silsbee is ranked 124th).

On Friday, Little Cypress-Mauriceville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-53 to West Orange-Stark.

Meanwhile, Silsbee entered their tilt with West Orange-Stark with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Silsbee breezed by West Orange-Stark on the road to the tune of 112-57 on Tuesday. Silsbee has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Silsbee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jared Harris, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine assists. Harris is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Jones, who scored 26 points along with two steals.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville has not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season. As for Silsbee, they pushed their record up to 22-9 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Things could have been worse for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 75-56 loss to Silsbee in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Silsbee's Dre'lon Miller, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Now that Little Cypress-Mauriceville knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
