Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is South Walton's 19th in Last 20 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only South Walton walked away with it. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the West Nassau Warriors an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Seahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 matches by six runs or more this season.

Coleman Borthwick was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Denton Lord tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Jackson Perkins was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lucas Caraway, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

South Walton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive games.

South Walton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for West Nassau, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-12.

As of now, neither South Walton nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
