Baseball Recap: St. David's Triumphs

While St. David's victory against Trinity Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The St. David's Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trinity Academy Tigers on Friday, sneaking past 4-2. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Grey McMahon made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Smith Goracke, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Adkins Allen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

St. David's record now sits at 2-0. As for Trinity Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, St. David's will be playing at home against Ravenscroft at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Trinity Academy, they will square off against Cary Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
