Westlake faced Skyridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Thunder put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 3-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Thunder sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Westlake was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-12, 25-20.

Parker Swensen paced Westlake's offense, picking up 14 kills. Swensen got some help from Keagan Cundiff and his 32 assists. Kilika Tafa controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Westlake's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-5. As for Skyridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westlake will venture away from home to square off against West Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Skyridge, they will head out to take on American Fork at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons are facing the Cavemen at the right time seeing as the Cavemen are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
