Basketball Recap: Herriman Takes Down Ranked Lone Peak

On Thursday, Herriman faced Lone Peak in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Herriman Mustangs managed a 66-60 win over the Lone Peak Knights. The Mustangs' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Herriman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cale Barclay led the charge by putting up 16 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Barclay's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlo Mulford, who posted 19 points and three steals.

Lone Peak's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Easton Cogswell, who put up nine points. The dominant performance gave Easton Cogswell a new career-high in points. Enoch Mitchell was another key player, posting 11 points and five rebounds.

Herriman's record now sits at 4-0. As for Lone Peak, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Herriman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-59 loss against Rock Canyon on the 6th. As for Lone Peak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 75-58 win against Syracuse on the 6th.
