Volleyball Recap: Haines City Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Haines City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Frostproof Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Tuesday.

Haines City wouldn't go down easily and took Frostproof into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 26-28, 25-5, 25-15, 22-25, 16-14.

Haines City's offense was headlined by Arianna Johnson and R'Riance Smith, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Mariah Williams and her 19 assists. Pamela Melendez controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Haines City now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Frostproof, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Haines City has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Lake Region on the 9th. As for Frostproof, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Hardee on the 9th.
