Kempsville has gone a perfect 10-0 against Cox recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Chiefs will be playing at home against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kempsville 2.5, Cox 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Kempsville came up short against First Colonial and fell 6-3.
Meanwhile, Cox came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Stallions 20-4. The Falcons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Chloe Vice made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Peterson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Piper Aman was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
Cox kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.8.
Cox pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Kempsville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Kempsville was able to grind out a solid win over Cox in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. Do the Chiefs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
