Volleyball Recap: Saint Andrew's Falls Short of Pine Crest in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Saint Andrew can now relate to. They fell just short of the Pine Crest Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Scots in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Saint Andrew's sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-17, 19-25, 25-18, 15-25, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Saint Andrew's still got an impressive performance from Kiersten Rodholm, who had 12 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Madelynn Ortlieb, who had nine digs and five assists.

Pine Crest was led to victory by Isabella Collado and Kaylee Foreman. Collado had 21 digs and three aces, while Foreman had 20 digs and three aces. Those 21 digs gave Collado a new career-high.

Saint Andrew's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Pine Crest, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-10.

Saint Andrew's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pine Crest, they will square off against Gulliver Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
