Baseball Game Preview: Cheektowaga Chargers vs. Depew Wildcats

Cheektowaga hasn't had much luck against Depew recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Neither Cheektowaga nor Depew posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Cheektowaga is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Seneca East.

Jerromy Gonzalez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Joey Sapio also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Depew's offense. They lost 9-0 to Medina on Friday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Cheektowaga's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Depew, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cheektowaga has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Depew struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts.
