Blake Harris was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Gavin Borchardt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Flatirons Academy put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Peetz as Flatirons Academy made off with a 17-2 victory.
Everson Nelson and Noah Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Nelson scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Evans went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Nelson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mateo Pope, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Flatirons Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peetz only posted an OBP of .368.
Flatirons Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.0 runs this season. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rocky Mountain Lutheran has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Flatirons Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .553. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
