Preview: Compass Charter Aviators vs. Non Varsity Opponent
Compass Charter is 1-9 against Non Varsity Opponent since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Compass Charter Aviators will be home for the holidays to greet Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. Hopefully Compass Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Wednesday.
Compass Charter's five-game losing streak came to an end. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past North Star 32-30. The victory was just what Compass Charter needed coming off of a 43-23 defeat in their prior game.
Among those leading the charge was Reanna Byers, who scored 21 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Compass Charter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Kartchner, who scored four points along with eight steals.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 50-12, which was the final score in Non Varsity Opponent's tilt against Leadore on Friday. Non Varsity Opponent has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Compass Charter's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 42-82 record this season.
