Basketball Recap: Athens Takes a Loss

Athens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost to the East Limestone Indians at home by a 47-33 margin. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Indians are ranked 75th).

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for East Limestone, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will square off against Muscle Shoals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Limestone, they will face off against Priceville at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Priceville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
