Recap: Socorro Bulldogs vs. Americas Trail Blazers
This season hasn't been kind to The Socorro Bulldogs, who are still winless after their tenth matchup. They took a serious blow against Americas on Friday, falling 45-17. While losing is never fun, Socorro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 947th, while Americas is ranked 302nd).
Despite the loss, Socorro still got an impressive performance from Adrian Acosta ll, who picked up 131 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevante Thrasher, who threw for 256 yards and a touchdown.
Alexander Ortiz went supernova for Americas, rushing for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes. Another player making a difference was Cam'ron Johnson, who rushed for 120 yards on only ten carries.
Socorro's defeat was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 0-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.7 points per game. As for Americas, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Socorro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Americas will head out on the road to face off against Midland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
