Baseball Recap: Monroe County Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Monroe County faced off against Westmoreland on Thursday. The Falcons lost 18-7 to the Eagles. The Falcons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 9-6.

Brison Nuckols and Caden Geralds did some serious damage despite the final result: Nuckols went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Geralds went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That triple was Nuckols' first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Monroe County and nudges their season record down to 9-5-1. As for Westmoreland, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-14.

Coming up, Monroe County will challenge Franklin-Simpson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Westmoreland, they will host Hume-Fogg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Knights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
