Baseball Recap: Laguna Beach Wins Going Away Against Esperanza

While Laguna Beach didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Esperanza Aztecs with a sharp 10-1 victory on Monday. With that win, the Breakers brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Laguna Beach got a great performance from Branson Wade as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Wade has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Lucien Reed was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Otis Boultinghouse also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Laguna Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Esperanza only posted a batting average of .125.

Laguna Beach pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs over those games. As for Esperanza, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Laguna Beach will face off against Dana Hills at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Laguna Beach is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for Esperanza, they will look to defend their home field on March 4th against Glenn at 3:00 p.m.
