Softball Recap: St. Joseph Notre Dame's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

It was a good run, but St. Joseph Notre Dame unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salesian College Preparatory Pride. If the Pilots were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Pride when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cassandra Sanchez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Joseph Notre Dame saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reagan Bowman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

St. Joseph Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Notre Dame will square off against University at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Saint Mary's at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th.
