Baseball Recap: Hawkins Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hawkins had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They skirted past the Pewitt Brahmas 5-4. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 7-6 victory on Friday.

The team relied heavily on Landen Burns, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Givens, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hawkins has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pewitt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

As of now, neither Hawkins nor the Brahmas have any future games scheduled.
