Baseball Recap: Wyatt Comes Up Short

Wyatt extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-19 in the process. They came up short against the Trimble Tech Bulldogs, falling 16-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chaparrals of the 7-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

As for Trimble Tech, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-10-2 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

For Trimble Tech's part, Jesus Castillo was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Castillo also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Trimble Tech is 7-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 8-9-2 otherwise. Castillo was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Trimble Tech got a massive performance out of Jonathan Perales, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Perales a new career-high. Miguel Mata also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Trimble Tech beat Wyatt by a score of 15-0 later that day.
