Baseball Game Preview: Germantown Clippers vs. Cairo-Durham Mustangs

The Germantown Clippers will face off against the Cairo-Durham Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Germantown is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Germantown's offense. They lost 13-0 to Taconic Hills on Thursday.

Cairo-Durham couldn't beat Catskill on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the sixth inning. The Mustangs came up short against the Cats, falling 15-8. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jacob Young put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cairo-Durham is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Young was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Wyatt Cammarata was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Isaias Romero also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Cairo-Durham's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Germantown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Germantown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cairo-Durham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts.
