Volleyball Recap: Valdez Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Dimond

Valdez faced Dimond in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Buccaneers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lynx. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the Lynx recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

While Valdez ultimately came up short, they really made Dimond work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 26-24.

Among those leading the charge was Elena Snow, who had nine digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted over her last three matches.

Valdez's defeat dropped their record down to 38-10-1. As for Dimond, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-9-1.

Valdez has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Soldotna on the 25th. As for Dimond, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Chugiak on the 25th.
