Baseball Recap: Maywood Academy Takes a Loss

Maywood Academy extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They came up short against the Maywood CES Wolfpack, falling 7-0. If the Nighthawks were looking for revenge after losing 12-3 to the Wolfpack when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Maywood CES, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8. Considering they have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Maywood CES' part, the result came thanks to Andrew Moran's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Moran has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maywood CES saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brian Aguirre, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Wolfpack beat Maywood Academy by a score of 22-1 on Thursday.
