3A/4A Big Carolina Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Jonathan Williams Turns in Season-Best Effort

Jonathan Williams produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Havelock to the win on Friday. Williams rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 173 receiving yards. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in November of 2023. He showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 53 yards.

Northside - Jacksonville's probably not too fond of Williams given he always seems to get the better of them. Williams rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 94 yards and two touchdowns the last time he and the Monarchs duked it out back in October of 2023.

Big Game from June As Jacksonville Won 53-28

Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday Demon June stepped things up a notch to give Jacksonville the 'W'. June was unstoppable, rushing for 104 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 56 yards.

If the past is any indication, June could be in store for another big game when he takes on Northside - Jacksonville on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time June saw the Monarchs), he rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and also picked up 39 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Another Game with at Least Seven Total Tackles from Emmanuel Lovett

On Friday, Jacksonville got the W thanks in part to Emmanuel Lovett playing the best football he has all season. Lovett wasn't messing around, making 14 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and snagged an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. The matchup was his fourth straight with seven or more total tackles.

This year, Lovett has averaged 10 total tackles per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 5.86 total tackles per game.

Terrance Mccormick Dazzles in New Bern Victory

Terrance Mccormick put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in August on Friday. He rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

This season, Mccormick has thrown 25 touchdowns while averaging 214.9 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 1.5 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 50.6 rushing yards.

A Constellation of Stars for Jacksonville

Another Jacksonville player making an appearance on this list is Eric Griffin. He rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also picked up 44 receiving yards. His longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

For the season, Griffin has averaged 14.9 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he had three rushing touchdowns. This year he is already up to ten.
