Baseball Recap: Franklin Monroe Triumphs

Franklin Monroe's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Stebbins Indians by a score of 9-4.

Braden Gilbert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Chase Stebbins was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Franklin Monroe: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brandt Filbrun, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Franklin Monroe's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Stebbins, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-9.

Looking ahead, Franklin Monroe will head out to face off against Lehman Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Stebbins, they will take on Tippecanoe at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
