Baseball Game Preview: Wolfson Wolfpack vs. Mandarin Mustangs

The Wolfson Wolfpack will head out on the road to square off against the Mandarin Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wolfson will be strutting in after a victory while Mandarin will be coming in after a loss.

Wolfson took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Riverside. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Generals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Riley Lee looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2025.

On the hitting side, Paxton Frederick and Thomas Lynch did most of the damage at the plate: Frederick went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Lynch went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Lynch a new career-high. Nick Fischer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mandarin's offense. They fell just short of Bishop Kenny by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

Mandarin has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Wolfson, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Wolfson came up short against Mandarin when the teams last played back in March of 2025, falling 4-1. Can the Wolfpack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
