Baseball Game Preview: Russellville Indians vs. St. Elizabeth Hornets

The Russellville Indians will challenge the St. Elizabeth Hornets at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Russellville's offense. They lost 10-0 to Pembroke Hill on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Indians have suffered since March 24th.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but St. Elizabeth ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Pembroke Hill by a score of 11-7. The victory was familiar territory for the Hornets, who have now won four matches in a row.

Sam Luetkemeyer and Gavin Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Luetkemeyer got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Williams went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, Luetkemeyer posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Chipman, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

St. Elizabeth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

St. Elizabeth's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Russellville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
