Waterford is a perfect 7-0 against South Kingstown since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. Waterford's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so South Kingstown's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Waterford is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Bishop Hendricken, who was ranked first in their home state at the time (Waterford was ranked eighth). The Lancers came up short against the Hawks on Wednesday, falling 9-3. The Lancers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

South Kingstown came out on top against Coventry on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Oakers. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Connor Wokoske looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jonah Monnes was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Michael DiGioia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

South Kingstown is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Waterford, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Waterford took their victory against South Kingstown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
