Football Recap: Menlo-Atherton Bears vs. San Mateo Bearcats
After only 13 points in their last game, Menlo-Atherton made sure to put some points up on the board against San Mateo on Friday. The Bears took down the Bearcats 42-28. Considering the Bears' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Teddy Dacey had an outrageously good game as he threw for 312 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 32 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Kyle Gabriel was Dacey's top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Menlo-Atherton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lucca Keighery and Diego Madrid. Madrid also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.
Tyce Copus and Lukas Fitzgerald certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Copus gained 134 total yards and a touchdown, while Fitzgerald rushed for 90 yards and a pair of scores.
Menlo-Atherton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for San Mateo, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Menlo-Atherton and San Mateo will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Bears see the field they'll take on Menlo School at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for San Mateo, their break will end when they face Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on October 9.
